Gadgets: Expandable Surge Protector Strip Allows for More Useable Outlets

Published by debcook at 3:33 pm under technology Edit This

Sitting at my desk I can see ten AC Power Block Adapters plugged into the three APC Power Supply Surge Protectors. Yes, I know that may sound obsessive but I do not place my electronic gadgets at risk. The slightest power surge or brown out could destroy sensitive components and render my computer or LCD television worthless.

The AC Power Blocks belong to gadgets such as my DSL modem, Linksys router, SlingBox, Dell desktop computers, LCD monitors, DVD player, OneTouch flatbed scanner and Maxtor external hard drive.

You may notice that other obvious gadgets are not listed. My Cannon digital camera, Motorola Bluetooth Wireless headset, iPhone, Sony laptop and other assorted devices still need to be plugged in periodically. My husband also needs a few outlets for his gadgets as well.

If I depended on ordinary surge protector strips to provide extra outlets I would still need more than one since as alluded to before – AC Power Blocks take up at least two outlets per gadget. That is why I like expandable surge protectors.

Cables Unlimited offers a 6 socket expandable surge protector strip. If an AC Power Block covers more than one outlet it is possible to separate the outlets far enough that the “lost outlet” is found again. This amazing feature can give you twice the space as with other surge protector strips.

Until everything we watch, listen to and compute with is free of power cords we will always need extra outlets.
