Targus solves one of the problems of Mac owners. The heat produced in your lap by the Mac can become quite uncomfortable. The heat produced is also harmful to the lifespan of the laptop.
The Targus Chill Mat has dual fans that are strategically spaced to provide the best cooling possible for Macs up to the 17” MacBook Pro. The fans are operated from a spare USB port on the Mac. The first thought I had was that the battery would be drained quickly. Actually that is not the case. Some amount of charge is sacrificed but can be regained by plugging the Mac into a power outlet.
The Chill Mat can be used on your lap or on a desktop. The cooling protection is the same either way. Even the shape of the Chill Mat works on either surface. An ergonomic slant makes it easier to type on the Mac’s keyboard. That slant can be a problem however due to the slick surface of the Chill Mat. Be sure to secure the laptop so that it does not end up slipping.
Although beauty is only skin deep the Chill Mat is a beauty inside and out. The dual fans are very quite yet functional. The surface is sleek and modern with a mesh design. It is a great thing when a problem is solved while looking so good.
I have a cool mat for my Toshiba laptop, and I love it. What a lap saver..LOL
