Mobile Gadgets: Cheetah GPS Mirror compared to the GPS Angel
Recently I wrote about the Cheetah GPS Mirror that detects and alerts you to automatic speed trap cameras and red light cameras. One of my readers commented that the GPS Angel (pictured on Amazon) was also a good choice. I agree – so I wanted to tell you about where they are alike and where they differ.
Personally I like the Cheetah GPS Mirror for a few reasons. I like the voice notifications. I know that some people get irritated by GPS navigators because the voice is always talking. I see their point but there is a volume control. I like that your speed is shown on the mirror. Since GPS technology is so accurate you can compare your odometer to the GPS reading. The compass feature is good for me. I am directionally challenged so when I am told to turn North at an unfamiliar intersection it helps to know which way is North.
The GPS Angel has great features of its own. There is an optional battery pack that gives you up to 8 hours of cordless use. There is a friction patch on the bottom of the device so that it does not slide on the dash. There are no voice controls but you are notified by beeps and red flashing lights (similar to a radar detector). The GPS Angel is also less expensive.
Both GPS devices plug into the cigarette lighter for power. Neither device is intrusive into the limited dash space of your car. It is possible to enter your own warning sites on both devices. The Cheetah offers more features but the GPS Angel performs well and will save you from getting a ticket. Both devices can make you a safer driver.
