sony-fw-series.jpgIf you are in the market for a high-end entertainment featured laptop the Sony FW Series may fit the bill. You will be amazed at what just over $1000 can buy. Of course, some features will increase the overall cost – but the choice is yours.

The standard battery will get you up to 6 hours of computing and or movie watching. Even the monitor is specifically designed for watching movies. The 16.4-inch monitor has a 16:9 aspect ratio – perfect for watching full – Widescreen movies. If you have to squeeze some work in there sometime you can see two pages at once on this extra-Widescreen monitor.

IMHO booting up a laptop is the worst. That is why my desktop gets so much use while I am at home. There is no need to boot up the Sony FW Series laptops just to watch a movie or to look at your digital photos. The A/V Mode is instant on and instant off with the press of a single button. In addition, full control is at you r fingertips. You can control the volume, you can pause the show or you can eject the DVD.

Chat with friends and family with the integrated 1.2 MB Motion Eye webcam with microphone.

Some other features you will probably like are the choice of either a hard drive or an SSD. Multiple slots are built-in for a Memory Stick Pro, an SD card or an Express Card. A whooping amount of RAM is available – 8GB.

Connect to your network or one at your favorite WiFi hangout. Your options include Fast Ethernet, Wireless LAN, WiFi or Bluetooth.

All of this glory does add weight. Be ready for a 7-pound laptop (standard battery installed). Also be ready for spending between $1000 and $1500.
