Gadgets: Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 Video Messenger at its Best

Logitech gadgets have earned space on many a computer desk. Just this evening I was using my QuickCam Pro 9000 to visit with family in Missouri. The picture was very clear both on my end and theirs even at full screen mode. The RightLight technology corrected the lighting in the room and there was very little lag when I moved around due to its autofocus feature.
The Pro 9000 easily clips to the top of a flat panel monitor or laptop. Actually it pretty much sits on the top edge of the monitor and the “clip” balances it there. It is easy to position but it is not necessary to stay frozen in one position in order to stay in the picture.
Videos can be shot from the Pro 9000 with 960 by 720 pixels. Still photos can also be captured at 2-megapixel. By using software shots can be captured at 8-megapixel which requires a longer shutter lag (best with good lighting). Videos and photos can be saved to your computer, burned to a disk or uploaded to a photo or video sharing site.
I don’t use them very often but there are multiple special effects that can be used if you like. There are avatars, face accessories and comical filters that can be used to disguise or to manipulate the video images. The included software gives you the video affects, one click video e-mail, QuickCapture for taking digital photos, Windows Live Messenger, Skype, video enabled AIM and Yahoo Messenger. Also included on the software is the HP Photosmart Essentials to enable you to edit photos.
I paid $99.00 for my Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 but they are listed at different stores of different prices. I am very pleased with the purchase and have had no problems. As soon as I plug it into the USB port on my computer it works. Windows Messenger Live recognizes it immediately. It looks sleek and modern and is not intrusive in anyway.
