Mobile Gadget: Digital Notepads transfers your scribbles onto your computer

Published by debcook at 8:02 pm under technology Edit This

Are you a note taker? Are you a doodler? Would a hand written email look more personal than a typed one? If you answer yes to any of these questions a digital notepad may be a good fit for your lifestyle. Do you know what a digital notepad is? Read on.

These gadgets are very cool. It seems as though there is a little magic built in. You write on a normal paper notepad and what you write or draw is what you see on your computer. A full 8.5” by 11” writing surface is available (on most digital notepads) for taking notes, writing emails and drawing pictures. Recognized file formats on the SolidTek DigiMemo include BMP, JPG, GIF or PNG. Some other digital notepads offer other formats as well.

Storage space is no problem with internal memory of 32MB in addition to a CompactFlash card slot. Battery life is not a problem either – the pen battery can last up to 14 months and the digital notepad’s four AAA batteries can last up to 100 hours.

You are not limited to writing on the digital notepad and then uploading it to your computer. Simply attach the digital notepad via USB port and whatever you write on paper will immediately be viewable on your computer screen.

Instead sticking notes all over your desk it would be much more efficient to write them on a digital notepad. I could see transferring notes to a laptop in order to make them mobile. Writing important notes on the back of envelopes or on sticky notes is a recipe for disaster. This knowledge is from personal experience.

A digital notepad is exactly what the name implies. As the digital ink pen writes notes or draws pictures on the paper notepad (placed on top of the digital notepad) every stroke is captured. Once the notes or drawings are uploaded to the computer they can be viewed, edited and organized by using the included software.

Personally I like my desk to be organized and I cannot think of a better way to keep scraps of paper from cluttering it up. The photo above shows a digital notepad sold on Amazon.com
