Mobile Gadgets: Samsung NC10 Netbook touts 8-hour battery life

Published by debcook under technology Edit This

Samsung NC10 Netbook - photo from Amazon.comThe Samsung NC10 is another notebook with long battery life. First I told you about the Asus Eee PC 1000HE that boasts up to 9.5 hours of continuous charge. Even though that is still the record (as far as I have found) the Samsung NC10 is nipping at its heels with a claim of 8 hours.

The 6 cell battery, the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor and the 10.2” screen all work together to give the NC10 the ability to keep going for so many hours without plugging in. Some may think that a Netbook is on the lower end of the scale in the ocean of laptops out there – and maybe they are somewhat – but you cannot argue that most of them are pretty well loaded for the price.

Do you travel with your laptop? If so, you should appreciate the lightweight and smaller size. If you want a gaming machine then you need to buy a gaming machine. Do not buy a Netbook and then complain. If you need to catch up on some paperwork, check some email or write a blog post then a Netbook should work quite well.

Netbooks are perfect for Social Networking. The Samsung NC10 has an integrated 1.3 Megapixel web cam so chatting with friends and family is easy. Uploading photos and conversation to My Space and Facebook as well as uploading videos to YouTube is a huge part of the abilities of the NC10.

The serious side of the Samsung NC10 is its 160GB hard drive, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, the integrated 3-in-1-card reader, the Kensington Key Lock, and the full size (anti bacterial) QWERTY keyboard.

The NC10 is as cool as any Netbook. It has impressive features – the most impressive being the 8-hour battery life. The price is just a little higher than some Netbooks such as the Dell Mini 9 or the Asus Eee PC 1000HE but no more than about $50 or $60. The Samsung NC10 pictured above is sold on Amazon in a pretty shade of blue.
