Gadgets: Consider buying options for your next gadget purchase

Published by debcook under technology Edit This

Clickfree - my latest QVC gadget purchaseMy latest gadget purchase is the Clickfree pictured here. All gadgets are great as far as I am concerned. My favorite has to be my laptop and I believe that everyone needs at least one laptop computer. Even though prices are much lower than they were even one year ago to some the prices are still keeping them from owning one. Laying out a stack of cash or loading up your credit card is not always the answer but there are great deals to be had. What if you could buy a computer on installment payments and have 30 days to send it back – no questions asked – even if it is because you just don’t like the color of it.

QVC sells products of all kinds. I shop from them on a fairly regular basis especially if it is something that I am not sure about. The Clickfree pictured above is one of those products. I had never heard of a Clickfree but I was interested in the possiblities. Where else can you buy something and then send it back just for the cost of return shipping? That goes double for anything electronic. La Crosse Atomic Clocks, Bose music systems, Sharp televisions, TomTom GPS devices, and HP printers are just the beginning of the list of electronics available.

I just took a peak at the QVC.com website. Although it is a short term price there is an Acer Aspire One selling for $448.96 on a 5 monthly payment “easy pay” plan. This payment option is not always available but if you keep any eye on them you will eventually catch the next offer. The only requirement is that you use a credit card. Unlike layaway QVC ships the item to you right away.

Selling computers and other electronic gadgets is not what I do. Buying them is what I do but I cannot always afford to spend several hundred to a couple of thousand dollars all at once. I also hesitate to buy gadgets that I am not familiar with and frankly am not sure that I really want. Surely I am not alone in my way of thinking.

I have my own reasons for buying electronics from various websites.

• QVC.com – I like the “easy pay” options and their 30 day no questions asked return policy
• Sony.com – I like their warranty plans. Although they are not inexpensive their price typically includes accidental damage coverage
• eBay.com – Prices are often very good. There are multiple buyers to choose from
• PCConnection.com – Prices are reasonable and their shipping is fantastic. Order one day and get it the next.
• Amazon.com – pricing is very reasonable

Back to my original statement – everyone should have at least one laptop. Hopefully you will give some thought to the multiple ways of affording one before just giving up on the idea. I would love hearing about the creative ways you have found to purchase electronic gadgets. Join me in helping our fellow gadget lovers to find good deals.
