Mobile Gadgets: Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-G3 uploads photos to Internet via WiFi
Sony has been prolific at CES 2009. There is a lot to like whether you are interested in a new Vaio, video camera, digital point and shoot camera or a new eco HDTV.
The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-G3 WiFi (point and shoot) digital camera is a groundbreaking gadget. Not only does this camera have a great name (DSC is my initials) it has some great features. I have been waiting for an exciting digital camera to come along and I think that it has just arrived.
WiFi puts the Sony G3 in a class of its own. Photos can be uploaded to sites such as YouTube, Daily Motion, Photobucket, Picasa, and Shutterfly by simply touching the icons on the 3.5-inch LCD during a WiFi session. If that is not enough, you can then email friends and family with a link leading to the photos.
The list of features is too long to mention here but a few highlights that help improve most problem areas are:
· 10.1 megapixels – cropped photos are still high resolution
· Compact – less than one inch thick
· Red-eye, Anti Blink, 9-Point Auto Focus, Smile Shutter all help shoot the best “people” shots
· Double Anti-Blur, Optical Steady Shoot, Burst Mode and Easy Shooting Mode all help to get the best final results – sometimes in spite of the photographer
· In-Camera Retouching, Creative Painting, PHOTOMUSIC and a Multi-Resizing function helps to improve any photo while still in the camera
In the era of fairly high-end digital cameras selling at just a couple of hundred dollars the DSC-G3 Cyber-shot may seem a bit rich at $499.00. Even so, I have to say that all of my research over the past couple of years has not uncovered a point and shoot digital camera as interesting as this one.
