Gadgets: Clocky the mobile alarm clock that gets you up running

Published by debcook at 4:41 pm under technology Edit This

Can an alarm clock be fun? I guess it depends on how you define fun. My idea of an alarm clock is something that wakes me up on time in the morning and then stays quiet until the next morning – functional but not in my face.

I know people however that likes to play games with their alarm clock each morning. How many times can the snooze button be pushed until it can make them get out of bed? I don’t understand – the alarm clock always wins – so I say just get up the first time.

If I lived with someone like I just described there is an alarm clock that might work well to change that habit. The “Clocky Mobile Alarm Clock” gives a snoozing non-riser one chance to get up and then the chase is on. I will explain.

Clocky reminds me of a cartoon robot character. On each side of a face like body there are two large wheels with chunky rubber tread that turns this alarm clock into a force to be reckoned with. If you do not get up after the first snooze Clocky rolls off the desk or dresser and rolls around the room acting as any good alarm clock acts. To shut the alarm down you have to get out of bed and chase it down. It could get interesting if Clocky finds a place to hide first.

I wonder how many high dives Clocky can take before something goes awry. Unless you just want to jump out of bed to chase your alarm clock around the bedroom I would suggest setting it on a low surface. Just like you it will only take so much abuse. You could save it for your guests – they might think that Clocky is cute – the first time or two anyway.
