Mobile Gadget: Jumpstart a car battery through the cigarette lighter
Is there a better battery jumper cable out there? I want to think so. Typically a car with a dead battery cannot be jumped with traditional cables because it is facing the wrong direction. So what do you do? Call AAA, carry a portable battery power station with you or solicit help to push the car into a better position?
AAA is a good choice. The membership is reasonable and you can stay safe inside your car until help arrives. A portable power station works well as long as its battery is charged and soliciting help to push the car should be the last choice. It is still a good idea to have a gadget that could possibly save your time and possibly your life.
The “AC Delco Car-to-Car Battery Jumpstart” is a small device that cables between the cigarette lighters of two cars. There is still the issue of two cars aligning up just right. In this case however it does not matter which way the cars are facing. If an average car measures six to seven feet wide you would need approximately three to four feet of cable for each car. The cable is over 13 feet long so the two cars just need to be within four of five feet of each other.
I found this gadget on QVC and after a quick Google search it seemed like this may be the most common place to find it. Since they give you a 30-day return guarantee trying it out would not be much of a risk.
