Gadgets: UPDATE - MobileMe cancelation
Yesterday I told you about my frustration while trying to cancel my MobileMe free trial. This is an update to my story.
I was unable to cancel my free trial during the weekend. The Apple website would not cooperate with me. I read Internet forums and found that others have had this same problem.
After a long search I finally decided on the support phone number 1-800-myiphon. I wrote the number down on a scrap of paper and waited until this morning to make the call. This was a story in itself. While trying to dial I misunderstood the number. Apparently I dialed 1-800-myphone. A very nice lady answered and before I could apologize for bothering her she said, “add the i and drop the e”. I did and was able to reach Apple support.
The tech was also very nice and very helpful. He spent over 45 minutes getting my issue resolved. I was impressed that he was so helpful since MobileMe was not his area of support. I could not find a better phone number and he assured me that he understood my frustration.
Canceling MobileMe is only facilitated online. I had to be logged into “live chat” to enable the tech to help me. He was in control throughout the process and finally the cancellation was accomplished. I received my confirmation number before hanging up my iPhone. Later I received an email confirming my conversation with Apple support and my MobileMe free trial cancellation.
I am happily reporting that I am no longer frustrated with Apple. I am pleasantly surprised with my experience with Apple telephone support – but I am still miffed at the Apple website. At this moment all is forgiven.
