Mobile Gadgets: Reduce travel weight with travel adapters - local or abroad

Published by debcook under technology Edit This

Packing for a trip abroad or is confusing to say the least. Factoring in all of the items banned by airport security (TSA) and the smaller bags allowed by the airlines you wonder if it would not be easier to just stay home. In reality some of us have to make the trip so I am writing about one type of gadget that may save space in the travel bag and headaches at the gate.

Electrical plugs differ in different countries. The prong configuration is different as well as the voltage. If you plan to charge your electronic gadgets a special electrical adapter is imperative.

Always before you had to pack multiple electrical adapters to match your itinerary. That could nearly require another travel bag.

All-in-one devices are found everywhere. Desktop computers, printers, cell phones and now travel adapters have been added to the list. There are several available and each one is easily purchased. I found the adapters below available on Amazon.com and Hammacher.com.

· 150-Country Travel Adapter (USB charger built in) (surge protection built in)
· Travel Power Plug Adapter for Worldwide Use
· AC Travel Plug Adapter w/USB Charger (Kensington brand)
· Kensington 33346 Travel Plug Adapter with USB charger

These adapters could be used locally as well. Especially the ones with the USB port can eliminate the need to carry multiple gadget chargers.
