iPhone 3G: How to make an iPhone 3G ring again

Published by debcook under technology Edit This

Missed calls on my iPhone 3G are totaling at least 10 over the last couple of days. It has been vibrating but not ringing. So far I just kind of ignored it but now it is really getting on my nerves.

I know – I know I should have been wearing my Bluetooth and I would have known that there was a call coming in. For some reason I have been in some sort of iPhone-not-ringing denial.

Finally I am admitting that there is a problem. After checking my iPhone 3G earlier this afternoon I noticed another missed call. This has gone far enough.

Apparently I am not the only iPhone owner experiencing this issue. I read in a few forums that others are complaining about silent iPhones. One suggestion was to reset all settings. I did that. Then I called my iPhone from another cell phone and it vibrated but would not ring.

Trying not to over-react I searched Google for another forum. This time I found the answer I was seeking. There is a tiny little switch on the upper left hand side of the iPhone 3G. When it is pushed forward the phone rings when receiving a call – if the switch is pushed downward the phone will not ring when receiving a call.

Simple fix.
