Gadgets: Will MacBooks and OpenOffice ever be for me?
Apple announced their upgraded MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops as well as a glass multi-touch trackpad. I guess that was not enough for one day – Apple also announced their new LED Cinema Display. Then there is the new OpenOffice 3.0 upgrade.
All this happened while I was at work. You know, work always gets in the way!
Since I got home I’ve tried to watch the Apple video but it crashes each time I click on it. I went to the OpenOffice 3.0 (OO.org) download site and there is a message saying the site is and has been so busy that it may be a while before OpenOffice 3.0 can be downloaded.
I am not an Apple person although I have an iPhone 3G. That new glass multi-touch glass trackpad has features similar to the iPhone and it does excite me however. I also like the aluminum unibody. Glass surely makes for a pretty screen – but I would really prefer a screen that can be seen clearly in daylight conditions. Am I the only one that needs to work on my laptop outside of my office?
I am a Microsoft Office Suite user. OpenOffice 3.0 is a possible option in my future. The cost would be way less on my second computer but it would not be as convenient. Once OpenOffice can be used offline I’ll be right there using it.
