Mobile Gadgets - Monitor at home and away
Sometimes being mobile does not mean leaving the house. Monitors are used all the time to watch children and even to monitor visitors at the door. I would love to have a monitor for my home that I could access from my laptop or cell phone. “ReCam Remote Monitoring Software” could do this for me.
The most popular type of monitor is probably a baby monitor. They have come a long way since the early devices that were similar to a walkie-talkie. One device was placed in the baby’s room and the other device was placed in a separate room. If the baby woke up and began to make noise mom would know right away.
Now full video and audio monitoring is possible with the use of one or more camera.
Some baby monitors can be attached to a television. Some baby monitors can record video and audio. Some baby monitors work on a wireless network. Some baby monitors are low LUX and give good images in low light conditions. Some baby monitors are noise and movement activated.
You can see that the choices are abundant. The prices are very reasonable especially when the safety of your baby is at stake. I found that most cost less than $100. Baby monitors with high-end features usually cost closer to $200. I was disappointed that the average monitor size is 2.5”. Personally I would buy one that could be connected to a television even if I had to buy a television strictly for this purpose.
The wireless networked baby monitors can have interference from cell phones and other 2.4GHz wireless devices. It has been reported that neighbors sometimes pick up video and audio from each other’s home. Changing the network channel should correct this problem. A 900 MHz baby monitor will not be affected by 2.4 GHz devices.
Just moving around the house can be stressful when you need to monitor someone or something in a different room. Unfortunately some feel that monitoring is necessary while away from the home. Fortunately there are monitors to fit most every need within the budget of most people.
