Mobile Gadgets - Sunshades for laptops
Have you tried to use your laptop when the sun is glaring on it? I struggle to see my laptop screen when riding in the car. I have tried hanging a towel over the widow and sitting my laptop inside of a box. Neither method has worked well.
I started researching this issue and there are specially designed sunshades for laptops. They are pretty awful looking and I do not know that I could use one. The upsides are that each one is foldable, lightweight and private. The downsides are that they look tacky and they look cumbersome. Some have hook-and-loop, also called Velcro, and some do not.
Most laptop sunshades look like a hood that wraps around the screen. My Sony Vaio has an ultra thin screen so these hoods make me nervous.
I found one on sunshade.com that looks interesting. It reminds me of those mesh baskets with the wire edges that just pops open when you touch them. It provides plenty of shade and it is ventilated so that the hot air can escape. I have a small mesh basket like what I just described – I think I will try to build my own laptop sunshade. If it works I will write a post about it.
During my research I had to laugh at some of the laptop sunshades I found. Just as you might expect duct tape was a major tool used. There seems to be no better way to form a cardboard box into a make shift sunshade.
