Best Buy sells some unlocked cell phones. Where have I been? Although I am not willing to pay the price I am glad to see that it is becoming main stream to offer cell phones without a two year contract attached.

I believe that until we can have every feature we want on one cell phone we will always want more than one cell phone.

My next cell phone will be an unlocked model. A used unlocked phone could be an option. Now that retailers are offering unlocked cell phones that will be a great option as well but I’ll have to wait for the price to come down.

I just searched Best Buy’s website for unlocked cell phones. I was surprised to see that there were 39 unlocked models listed for sale.

The most expensive unlocked cell phone was the HTC Shift listed at $1499.99. If you are not familiar with the HTC Shift it is much more than a cell phone and is much larger. Actually it is more a computer than a cell phone. If you don’t fell strange holding a device with a 7″ screen up to your ear in public the HTC Shift could be for you.

The highly anticipated HTC Touch Diamond (unlocked) cell phone can be preordered for $699. No word is given when this phone will be shipped.

One of the least expensive unlocked cell phone I saw was the Nokia 2630 priced at $119.99 and can be ordered online and picked up at most Best Buy stores.

I would have first checked Amazon or eBay for an unlocked cell phone. Guess I need to start perusing more retail websites.
