Mobile Gadgets - Eco-Friendly Asus Bamboo Laptop

Asus has married function with form with their bamboo laptop. It has been the talk of many blogs for a while now but it is finally ready for prime time. I just checked Amazon and it is available for pre-order for $1999.

The eco-friendly bamboo case is now all the buzz. I would guess that any laptop wrapped in this type of material would be heavy and bulky. Apparently I would be wrong. Instead the Asus Bamboo laptop is rather sleek and thin.

I like that there is an 11.1″ version available. This is a good size to carry around on a constant basis. However, the 12.1″ model has the best goodies inside. Asus offers a choice of three Intel Core 2 Duo processors (T9400, P8600 or P8400), an nVidia GEForce graphics card (256MB), RAM up to 4GB and a 320GB hybrid hard drive with flash memory (256MB).

Asus did not stop with the eco-friendly theme outside they continued it inside. The Asus Bamboo 12.1″ laptop is said to save up to 70% energy above and beyond other similarly equipped laptops on the market. How you may ask? Asus uses a “Super Hybrid Engine” which is smart technology. The laptop itself monitors its own power consumption and adjusts accordingly.

It is refreshing that Asus gave this laptop more than a pretty face.
