Mobile Gadgets - Itching to use them

My Samsung Q1UP-V (UMPC) arrived yesterday. Today I finally got the chance to unpacked it and charge the battery. I took photos and will share them with you in a later post. My initial opinion is mixed. Don’t get me wrong I think that it will be a great addition to my gadget collection. However, I was surprised how small the keyboard really is.

The QWERTY keyboard is split which is OK with me – but the keys are so small. I would guess them to be about the size of tic-tacs. They kind of remind me of the QWERTY keys on a small Smart Phone. They have spaces between them but anyone with large fingers would probably not enjoy typing for a long period of time.

There are optional ways to input data. The 7” Touchscreen works either with fingertips or with a stylus. I should also mention the ability to use an external portable keyboard or the regular keyboard on your desk.

Yesterday was a great day. I also received my new Samsung (pure coincidence) WEP430 Bluetooth Headset. Again, I took photos and will share them in a later post. I decided to try this Bluetooth headset because it wraps around the ear. It looks rather strange but it will be great to wear while walking or jogging. I find that my Motorola H12 Bluetooth headset is a bit unstable when I break a sweat.

Typing this post is more difficult than usual. I have suffered with poison ivy for a couple of days and today has been exceptionally distracting. But, as the mobile electronic gadget person that I am I have persevered. I could not leave my new gadgets in their boxes – I just had to get my hands on them. Better there than on my rash.
