iPhone 3G - Voice Dial from the App Store

Decisions, decisions, decisions. Deciding what Apps I need for my iPhone seems to be taking a lot of my time lately. Today’s App in question is “Voice Dial “.

I agree that the $25 price tag is an agitation considering that most other cell phones have the feature built in out of the box. My husband’s Motorola Razr is one of the easiest cell phones to use voice dial that I have seen. He did not have to set up voice tags or anything like that. His Razr understands his voice and never misses dialing the correct contact. He pushes the call button on his Bluetooth headset and says “Debbie”. From that point forward the phone asks for confirmation – he gives it – and my iPhone rings.

My previous cell phone was an AT&T 8525. It was difficult to set up voice dial but it did have the feature right out of the box. I did not take the time to set up very many contacts on voice dial but it was a very handy feature in any case. If I was in a noisy situation the voice dialing did not always work.

“Voice Dial” for the iPhone 3G is touted to be the best choice from a few other options in the App Store. Yes the price is high especially when you consider that other similar Apps are free. I agree with those that say if the App is worth $25 I will pay it. I also agree that it is difficult to decide whether this App is a good one or not because so many potential users simply want to complain about the price.

My list of Apps that I might add to my iPhone is growing.

  • KeyTasks (not yet added to App Store)
  • Evernote (free on App Store)
  • Voice Dial (Costs $25)

You may ask what I am waiting for. The best answer I can give you is this analogy. It is like shopping for a pair of shoes. I never buy the first pair I see.

Once I have a list of Apps that fulfill my needs I will choose among them and you will be the first to know.
