In one of my previous posts I mentioned that I would like to have a 7” touchscreen UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC). At the time I thought that I had researched most all UMPCs available. Then I saw a post on a blog that talked about a new Samsung 7” Q1UP touchscreen UMPC. I am very interested.

Yes I would like to have a faster processor – Dual Core instead of Solo. Yes I would rather have a one piece QWERTY keyboard instead of the split one. Yes I would like for my next UMPC to measure less than an inch thick instead of the Q1UP’s 1.16”.

What I really like is the 2GB memory and the 80GB hard drive. If there were a 64GB SSD available I might choose it instead. A touchscreen is a must have – I love them. Ever since I started using a touchscreen PDA cell phone and now my new iPhone 3G I want touchscreens on all of my gadgets.

Before finding this 7” beauty I was considering a Motion Tablet PC. To get the features that I wanted I would have to accept at least a 12.1” touchscreen. I want something smaller - larger than the 4.5” – 5” touchscreens found on most UMPCs – but smaller than the 12.1” and larger of most Tablet and Slate PCs.

It took me a few days to bring up the subject with my husband. I know that I really do not need a new computer right now – but I want this one really bad. Will I get one? I hope so. I can see myself using one of these Samsung UMPCs. I am sure that I would get more work done. Yes, I am sure I would.
