Mobile Technology - Weigh In for Gadgets
2008-07-17 20:57:57
I was cleaning out my bag (that’s what I lovingly call my purse) today and it is amazing how many electronic gadgets I have in there. No wonder my husband complains whenever I ask him to fetch it for me – it must weight at least 10 pounds.
My Sony Vaio laptop weighs right at 3 lbs. (not including the leather zipper case). Then there is my Cannon PowerShot SD550 (elf) digital camera that is just less than 1 lb. In another pocket I carry a USB 40GB Apricorn external hard drive that weighs in at under ½ lb. The real lightweights are 4 USB Flash drives and 1 USB broadband card. My LED flashlight probably weighs a few ounces. Ok, that all adds up to about 4 .5 lbs.
I even came across my Bluetooth headset charging stand and power cord. Do I always carry these – no of course not but I have been in such a hurry the past few days I dropped it in just in case.
Now add in the other stuff that women carry in purses and yep – I’m up to 10 lbs. In fact I just got back from checking it out and it does in fact weighs 10 lbs. I feel ridiculous. What can I remove and not miss? Unfortunately not much – yet – but I will be shopping for smaller and lighter weight gadgets in the next few days.
What do men do with all of their gadgets? Let me guess – they ask their wives to carry them in their purses. Right?
