While in Kansas City this weekend I was introduced to the Nintendo Wii. I’ve known what they are and much of what they do since they were released to the market but I have not played with one.
Seeing the Wii in motion is not what got my attention. The hype of purchasing one did. It is amazing how this device has held the public in suspense for so long.
It all started with a cell phone call to Best Buy about a computer game that is about to be launched. During the conversation it was noted that the game was not available yet but when asked about the Wii the Best Buy CSR said that they were going to have some available Sunday morning. It was suggested that in order to get one to be in the line early – before the store opened at 10 AM.
After standing in the line for over an hour each person there was rewarded with a “guarantee” ticket that was good for one Nintendo Wii until 1 PM Sunday afternoon. The kicker to his story is that there were three available (at the same price) just down the sidewalk at Target.
